Totally Qualified
The unsponsored and unlikely to qualify for the Indianapolis 500, Juncos Racing Team and driver Kyle Kaiser defy the odds on qualifying weekend. After totaling his car the day before qualifying day, Kasier and his team rebuilt a car overnight to bump Fernando Alonso of team McLaren out of the Indianapolis 500.
A Mother and Son Tradition
Arcelia Watson, 90, sits in a wheelchair while her son Dennis Watson pushes her out of Gasoline Alley, May 16, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “I have a lot of things I can’t do, but my son is helping me so I can still do these things," said Arcelia. Originally from Illinois, for the past 56 years Arcelia has made it a family tradition to come to the Indianapolis 500 and watch the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” enjoying time with her son Dennis chasing drivers for photos, eating fried chicken, drinking beer, and sitting in Gasoline Alley hoping to meet the drivers.
